LifeDev: Things I Do At Work I’m Not Proud Of

  • Brett · 1 year ago
I spend a great deal of my workday on IRC with friends, as well as perusing Metafilter and, of course, Twitter. I manage to keep it on a somewhat-tight leash, but the worst distractions are the most accessibly distractions.

I don't know whether it's unsavory or not, but I tend to spend waaaay too much time scanning my RSS feeds for stuff that's not strictly work related. (Films? New Macbook apps? LiveDev.net posts...?). Also, since I work at home, I really enjoy taking time out during the morning to watch "Two and a Half Men" re-runs on the Paramount Comedy Channel. One hour. Most days.

    Sympathy please...

You take your laptop to the john?

    Ugh!!!

    Oh wait...

    I do too...

I call it my second office.

I blame it on having irritable bowel syndrome.

    Your excuse? -wink

...leaving comments on silly posts ....
Seriously (??), too much RSS feed reading or having a schmoozle with my cat.

I surf on the john too: my boyfriend calls this behavior "pooternetting".

I have brought my computer to the john... Lately though I've arrived there to find I'd rather read my book! It's one of the few places I'll read books, another being the bus and no-one likes when you poop there.

Heh, this post has kind of turned into a support group for "pooternetting", hasn't it? (Great word Chris!)

As I write this I'm in my pajamas ;)

I often use the bathroom while on conference calls. I'm always paranoid that my mute will fail and someone will hear me flush.

I can't do the "work in your pajamas" thing; I get up, shower, and get dressed every day.
